William Blake’s Proverbs of Hell includes one of the most striking proverbs in the collection, “The Nakedness of Woman is the Work of God,” a phrase that has inspired artists, writers, and thinkers for centuries.

In his celebrated work, Marriage of Heaven and Hell, William Blake includes a section known as Proverbs of Hell. In line with the rest of the work, this section carries biting satire and even parodic elements aimed at the Bible, despite Blake’s strong devotion to Scripture.
The “Proverbs of Hell” is a collection of provocative and enigmatic sayings that explore themes of individualism, rebellion, and the pursuit of knowledge.
One of the proverbs found in Proverbs of Hell is “The nakedness of woman is the work of God.” This striking phrase has inspired artists and writers for centuries, including myself. As an artist, I have produced a digital artwork titled “Dance For Me,” which draws inspiration from this very proverb.

In this blog post, we’ll explore a digital artwork inspired by this proverb, depicting dancers performing a ritual satanic, witchcraft scene set in a cave cut into the stone.
The artwork, titled Dance For Me by artist Gerard Fay, is a stunning and evocative depiction of a ritualistic dance. The scene is set in a dark and cavernous stonewalled space, illuminated only by a flickering torch. In the center of the artwork, a man and a woman are engaged in a ritual dance, their naked bodies intertwined as they move to the rhythm of the music.
Around the dancers, there are various symbols and objects that suggest the scene is indeed a witchcraft ritual. There is a chalice, a sword, and a serpent, all potent symbols of magic and mysticism.
